The Financial Times has released its highly anticipated 2025 MBA rankings, and the results include one stunning shake-up. For the first time ever, Harvard Business School has dropped to 13th place, marking its lowest ranking in history. Meanwhile, Stanford Graduate School of Business is entirely absent from the list due to insufficient alumni responses.
MBA RANKINGS: WHAT’S BEHIND THESE UPSETS?
Several factors contributed to these dramatic shifts. Harvard’s decline stems partly from last year’s troubling employment statistics, with nearly 25% of graduates still job-hunting three months post-MBA. Stanford’s absence underscores the skepticism some top-tier alumni have about the FT’s ranking methodology, which places significant weight on alumni survey participation and salary increases.
Despite these surprises, Wharton has held its top spot, followed by Columbia, IESE, INSEAD, and SDA Bocconi rounding out the top five. Notably, ESADE in Barcelona made the biggest leap, climbing nine spots to secure eighth place.
