Strong applications grow out of students who have had the time and support to understand their interests, develop their strengths, and pursue experiences that genuinely matter to them. Our counselors focus first on helping students make intentional choices about how they spend their time, what they want to explore, and how they hope to grow.
The college list, application strategy, essays, and timing decisions all build from that foundation. When students know what matters to them—and have a record of meaningful engagement to support it—the application process becomes clearer, more cohesive, and often less stressful.

From the moment your family enrolls, you are paired with a dedicated counselor who serves as your student’s primary guide throughout the admissions process. Rather than moving between a rotation of advisors, your student benefits from a counselor who comes to understand their academic record, interests, activities, voice, goals, and the decisions that shape their path.
That continuity allows the work to become deeper and more strategic over time. Each conversation builds on the last, helping your counselor provide increasingly personalized guidance as your student moves through the process.

Your counselor is supported by the collective expertise of the Top Tier Admissions team, including former admissions officers, experienced counselors, and specialists across areas such as testing, athletics, and international admissions. When a student’s situation calls for additional perspective, counselors can draw on colleagues with relevant expertise to inform strategy and strengthen recommendations.
Families work primarily with their dedicated counselor, while benefiting from the knowledge and experience of the broader team behind the scenes.
What to Expect
A process that evolves with your student.
Step 1 The First Conversation
We start by getting to know your student and your family’s goals. We talk through where they are in the process, what support would be most helpful, and whether Top Tier Admissions is the right fit. There is no obligation to move forward.
Step 2 Building the Foundation
Early in the relationship, your counselor develops a deeper understanding of your student’s academic record, interests, activities, strengths, and goals. That work informs a Personalized Admissions Report: a written assessment of where your student stands today, the opportunities ahead, and the priorities that should guide the work to come.
For younger students, the report helps establish a roadmap for academic and extracurricular development. For older students, it provides a focused assessment of the profile they have built and where attention may have the greatest impact.
Step 3 Strategy and Planning
As high school progresses, your counselor helps your student make intentional decisions about courses, testing, extracurricular priorities, summer opportunities, and emerging college interests. Recommendations are tailored to your student’s evolving profile, goals, and circumstances rather than a generic formula.
Step 4 Decision Day and Beyond
Top Tier Admissions counselors stay with families through the final decisions, helping them weigh offers, think through fit, and make an informed final choice. The relationship does not end when the acceptances arrive.
