Why MBA Admissions Is Different

Connect your experience to your next step.

MBA committees read for trajectory and self-awareness, not just numbers. They want to see where you have been, where you are going, and why this program is the bridge, told consistently across your resume, essays, short answers, and recommendations. We help you build that narrative and pressure-test it against what each school actually values.

A strong MBA application connects what you have done with what you want to do next—and explains how a particular program can help you get there. We help you identify meaningful examples of leadership, contribution, and growth, then communicate them clearly across your resume, essays, and interviews.

One Narrative, Every Document

Resume, essays, short answers, and recommendations, all telling the same story about where you have been and where you are going.

Tested Against the School

Every program values something different. We pressure-test your case against what yours actually rewards.

Choosing Your Round

Round one, round two, and the year you apply.

Choosing when to apply means balancing your readiness with each program’s deadlines and application options. We help you assess whether to apply in an earlier round, allow more preparation time, or consider a later application year.

Round 1

An option when your application materials, testing, and recommendations are ready for the school’s first deadline. We help you assess whether an earlier submission fits your preparation and goals.

Round 2

Additional preparation time may help you strengthen your application, complete testing, or incorporate meaningful new experience. The right choice depends on your readiness and each school’s deadlines.

Round 3 or Later Rounds

Later-round options vary by program. We help you weigh the remaining opportunities and practical timing considerations against preparing for the next application cycle.

The Year Itself

Sometimes the honest answer is that another year of work experience would change your case more than another draft of your essays. We will tell you when we think that is true.

Common Questions

The answers, honestly.

Don’t see your question? One conversation is usually the fastest way to a clear answer.

Should I take the GMAT or GRE?

Start with the testing requirements of your target programs. Where both exams are accepted, your strengths, practice-test performance, and preparation timeline can help guide the choice. Our team can help you consider those factors, with one-on-one test preparation available separately.

How much work experience do I need?

Expectations vary by program and application pathway. We help you assess both the length and substance of your experience, including your responsibilities, contributions, growth, and goals, to consider whether now is the right time to apply.

When should I start working with a counselor?

Starting several months before your target deadlines gives you time for program research, testing where required, recommendations, and thoughtful essay revision. We also work with applicants planning further ahead or approaching a deadline. Contact us to discuss your timeline and the support that would be most useful.

Which round should I apply in?

The section above lays out the trade-offs. The short version is to apply in the first round where your test score and essays are ready. A strong Round Two application beats a rushed Round One.

Who should write my recommendations?

Choose recommenders who know your work well and can provide specific examples of your contributions and growth, following each program’s requirements. If asking your current supervisor is not feasible, we can help you consider alternatives.
