SAT / ACT Tutor (Contract)

Top Tier Admissions is seeking experienced SAT/ACT Tutors to work one-on-one with highly motivated high school students and families in a virtual setting. This role is ideal for educators who combine deep content mastery with a thoughtful, student-centered approach and high professional standards.

About the Role

  • Provide individualized SAT and/or ACT tutoring to students in grades 9-12  
  • Diagnose student strengths and gaps and tailor instruction accordingly  
  • Help students build test strategy, confidence, and durable academic skills  
  • Collaborate with Top Tier Admissions counselors to ensure tutoring aligns with broader academic and admissions goals  
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with families and internal team members  

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in SAT and/or ACT instruction, with a strong track record of results  
  • Prior experience tutoring or teaching high school students  
  • Clear, confident communicator with a warm, polished presence  
  • Highly reliable, organized, and experienced working in a high-touch, boutique educational environment  
  • Successful candidates typically bring strong academic training and a deep respect for rigorous, concept-driven instruction

Research Immersion Program Mentor (Contract, Advanced Degree Required)

Top Tier Admissions is seeking Research Immersion Program Mentors to guide high school students through rigorous, inquiry-driven research projects. This role is ideal for scholars and educators who enjoy mentoring intellectually curious students and supporting advanced academic exploration.

About the Role

  • Mentor high school students as they design and execute original research projects
  • Guide topic development, research methodology, and academic writing
  • Help students think critically, refine arguments, and engage meaningfully with scholarly sources
  • Provide structured, substantive feedback throughout the research process
  • Collaborate with the Top Tier Admissions team to ensure program quality and consistency

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree required (MA, PhD, or equivalent)
  • Strong background in research, writing, and academic inquiry
  • Prior experience mentoring or teaching high school or undergraduate students
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and support students at varying levels of experience

Our team provides expert, one-on-one support, helping students navigate academic planning, extracurricular development, and the application process with confidence.

Postion Overview

As a Senior Private Counselor, you will provide personalized, one-on-one guidance to students in grades 7-12, helping them strategize and prepare for college admissions. This role involves mentoring students throughout their academic journey, reviewing applications and essays, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to thought leadership initiatives.

While hours are flexible, please note that the nature of this position requires that SPCs meet with students and parents when they are available: afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide students and families through all aspects of the college admissions process.
  • Provide strategic advice on academic and extracurricular planning.
  • Review applications, essays, and admissions materials.
  • Contribute to content development, including blog posts and webinars.
  • Participate in team meetings, events, and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in college admissions, academic advising, or student mentorship.
  • A degree from a selective university or admissions experience at a highly selective institution.
  • A graduate degree, ideally a MA or PhD (candidates from fields such as history, education, literature, languages, and political science have thrived in similar roles, but all disciplines are welcome).
  • An outgoing, empathetic personality with strong relationship-building skills.
  • A strong work ethic and drive to exceed expectations.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, small-team environment.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • At least five years of professional experience or a combination of graduate education and work experience.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
  • Passion for helping students achieve their college goals.
