Williams College Acceptance Rate: Early Trends

Williams College, a small private liberal arts school in Williamstown, Massachusetts was once again ranked the #1 Best Liberal Arts College in the nation by the 2025 U.S. News & World Report college rankings.

WILLIAMS COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE RATE

Williams received 964 applications to its Early Decision program and admitted 257 of them to the Class of 2029 for an acceptance rate of 26.6%.

This year is the first in which the early decision admissions rate at Williams has increased since 2020, according to the Williams Record. Last year’s acceptance rate was a record-low 23.3%. The early applicant pool for the Class of 2029 decreased by 9.47% compared to the Class of 2028, likely leading to the increase in acceptance rate this year.

The college also deferred 13.38% of the Class of 2029 ED applicants to the Regular Decision round. Last year, the College admitted just 14 applicants who had previously been deferred.

Williams also admitted 18 students to the Class of 2029 through QuestBridge’s National College Match program. Williams remains test-optional through Fall 2025.
