Clemson is ranked 75th in the most recent U.S. News & World Report’s list of National Universities (tied with Rutgers, Syracuse University, SUNY Buffalo and UC Riverside) and #15 in Co-ops/Internships Schools. Clemson was founded in 1889, by Thomas Green and was initially an all-male, all-white military school with 446 students. It is now a Carnegie R1 public research institution with a total undergraduate enrollment of 23,401 (fall 2024). 

Students can pursue more than 80 undergraduate majors and 130 graduate degree programs across 7 different colleges: College of Architecture: Art and Construction, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences, College of Education, College of Engineering: Computing and Applied Sciences, College of Science, and Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business.

Clemson offers incoming freshmen students the opportunity to spend the summer before the start of classes studying abroad through their Global Start program, with destinations including Rome, San Juan, and Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Applying to Clemson

Students applying to Clemson can apply Early Action or Regular Decision. Early Action applications are due October 15th and applications for Regular are due January 1st and are non-restrictive. 

To apply to Clemson, students can use the Clemson Application, the Coalition Application, or the Common Application. Standardized test scores are optional. Clemson superscores standardized tests, which means your highest section scores across all test dates will be considered.
