We’ve spoken before about the importance of college interviews, which give schools a chance to get to know you outside of the written pages of your application. These interviews also offer you a chance to learn more about your target schools and—equally important—to demonstrate interest in them, which can have a serious impact on your odds of admission.
While many schools postpone interviews until the fall and winter, a number of colleges offer pre-application interviews over the summer. If you are interested in these schools (or hoping to hone your interview skills), we recommend taking advantage of the opportunity to speak directly with an admissions officer, student, or alum.

Keep in mind: these interviews can take many forms. Some will be evaluative interviews with admissions officers or alumni, while others might be informal conversations with current students. No matter what, you’ll want to prepare thoroughly and put your best foot forward.
