Dr. Eliza Fox brings nearly a decade of counseling experience at Top Tier Admissions, along with a distinguished academic background in English, creative writing, and digital humanities. A graduate of Stanford University and the University of Virginia, she previously taught writing in UVA’s English Department, where she received the university’s All-University Graduate Teaching Award. Her work as a writer and educator has earned recognition including Stanford’s Rebele Fellowship and honors from UVA’s Seven Society, and she has published both academic and journalistic writing. At Top Tier Admissions, Eliza is especially known for helping students uncover the ideas, experiences, and values that shape their stories and translating them into compelling, authentic narratives. Her deep expertise in writing and narrative strategy allows her to guide students toward essays that are thoughtful, distinctive, and intellectually engaging.

Eliza’s counseling style is collaborative, thoughtful, and reassuring. She builds strong relationships with students, creating the trust and space they need to explore their interests, take intellectual risks, and develop a clear throughline across their academics, activities, and applications. While her own academic background is rooted in the humanities, Eliza has worked successfully with students across a broad range of interests, including engineering, astrophysics, and computer science, with students earning admission to highly selective universities including MIT, Yale, and Columbia. She also enjoys working with students pursuing nontraditional academic paths, including homeschooling, helping them translate their experiences into compelling applications.
