Planning with Purpose

Making every year count.

Time is the real advantage. Here’s how it compounds, year by year.

Grades 7 and 8: Foundations

Students begin discovering what excites them. Academic habits take shape, interests emerge, and confidence grows. The choices made during these years, from high school fit to course selection to enrichment, help create the foundation for everything that follows.

Grade 9: The Record Begins

High school marks the start of a student’s academic and extracurricular record. Courses, activities, and commitments begin to tell a story. Students who make intentional choices early often find themselves with more opportunities and greater flexibility in the years ahead.

By grade 10, students who started early are ready to shape a strategy, not scramble to create one.

What We Do Together

A strong foundation, built around your student’s strengths.

Connect With Our Team

Pillar 1

Course Selection

Your counselor helps ensure each academic choice fits a long-term plan. Which honors and AP courses reflect genuine strength? Where does added rigor support your student’s goals, and where might it introduce unnecessary stress?

Pillar 2

Extracurricular Strategy

The most compelling students are not the busiest. We help your student identify the interests that genuinely matter to them and begin pursuing those with growing depth over time.

Pillar 3

Summer Planning

Summer creates opportunities that simply do not exist during the school year. We help your student find programs, research experiences, academic pursuits, and meaningful projects that deepen their interests and support long-term growth.

Pillar 4

College Exploration

It’s never too early to explore fit. We help your family understand the academic, social, and campus environments where your student is most likely to thrive, laying the foundation for a thoughtful college list.

Pillar 5

Academic Habits and Skill-Building

The habits a student builds now stay with them throughout high school. We help students strengthen the study skills, organization, and academic confidence that make later, more demanding years far more manageable.

Pillar 6

Finding Your Throughline

Over time, a student’s interests, experiences, and accomplishments begin to tell a story. We help your student recognize the themes that connect their experiences, so they can pursue opportunities with greater purpose long before application season begins.

I just wanted to drop you a quick update and say a big thank you again for all of your guidance and support in high school. Your program added tremendous value to my life, not just for college admissions, but in teaching me how to be ambitious, strategic, and proactive. We still joke about going “above and beyond” at home all the time – it has become a mantra!

Common Questions

The answers, honestly.

Still have questions? A quick conversation is often the fastest way to find the clarity you need.

Is this really the right time to start?

For many families, yes. The choices made in grades 7-9, including course selection, activity priorities, and academic habits, have a longer reach than most families realize. Starting now gives us the time to help your student build something intentional and well-developed, rather than simply responding to decisions that have already been made.

How much time is involved at this stage?

The relationship is just as consistent and high-touch as it is in later years, but the focus reflects where your student is now. Regular conversations center on course planning, strong habits, exploration, and nurturing a genuine love of learning. Guidance is woven naturally into your student’s life, with steady support at each step and plenty of room for curiosity and growth.

How does the guidance evolve as my student gets older?

The relationship grows with your student. As they move through high school, the focus naturally shifts from exploration and strong foundations to course rigor, testing, deeper interests, and an emerging college strategy, all with the continuity of a counselor who already knows them well.

When does test prep begin?

We introduce a long-term view early, but testing becomes a focused part of the work in grades 10-11. When the time is right, we build a well-paced PSAT and SAT/ACT timeline and can connect students with our test-preparation specialists. Many programs also include bundled tutoring hours for additional academic support along the way.
