BROWN
Brown University admitted 583 early decision applicants for the Class of 2018, from a record early decision pool of 3,088 prospective students. Last year, Brown accepted 558 of the 3,010 applications received for the class of 2017. The 3,088 applications for early decision this year represent a slight increase over last year’s.
COLUMBIA
Columbia received 3,298 ED applicants to Columbia College and SEAS, making it the largest ED applicant pool in Columbia history. In the past two years, Columbia received 3,126 and 3,088 early applications. According to unofficial sources, the number of admitted students is expected to be around 650 students for an admission rate of slightly below 20 percent.
CORNELL
Cornell reported an increase in the number of early decision applicants with 4,775 applications for the Class of 2018, as opposed to the 4,193 applications that were reviewed in December 2012. Cornell accepted 1,325 students out of the 4,775 early decision applicants. The number of applications for the Class of 2018 represented a 13 percent increase from the Class of 2017. The early decision admission rate for the Class of 2018 was 27.75 percent, down from 29.5 percent for the Class of 2017 when Cornell admitted 1,237 students
DARTMOUTH
Dartmouth has admitted 469 students to next year’s entering Class of 2018 from a pool of 1,678 early decision applicants. Last year, the school received 1,574 Early Decision applications for the Class of 2017. The number of early decision applications increased by more than 6 percent from last year.
HARVARD
Harvard admitted 992 out of 4,692 applicants to its Class of 2018 for an admission rate of more than 21 percent. Last year, Harvard accepted 895 students or 18 percent of the 4,856 early applicants to the Class of 2017. This represents a substantial increase over the 772 students who were offered early admission to the Class of 2016.
UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA
Penn admitted 1,299 students or 25.3 percent of the early decision applicant pool for its class of 2018, a small increase from last year’s 24.9 percent acceptance rate. This year the school received 5,149 early decision applications for the Class of 2018 and reported an increase from last year’s 4,812 early decision applications.
PRINCETON
Princeton admitted 714 students, representing 18.5 percent of an early application pool of 3,854 for the Class of 2018. Last year, the university accepted 697 of the 3,810 single-choice early action applications.
YALE
Yale accepted 735 of the 4,750 early action applicants for the class of 2018 and reported an increase over last year’s 4,520 applications for its SCEA program. The school offered admission to 649 applicants for its Class of 2017.

MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology accepted 612 students to its Class of 2018. The 6,820 students who applied to MIT during the early-action period represent a 4 percent increase from the previous year when the school received 6.541 early action applications –up from the 6,008 received in 2011.
STANFORD
Stanford accepted 748 high school students who sought admission to the Class of 2018 under the university’s early admission program. The admission rate of 10.77 is one percent lower than the 11.88% percent of 2012 when Stanford admitted 725 out of 6,103 applications. The school received 6,948 applications, and 14 percent increase of around 900 applications. At less than 10 percent, the rates of admissions at both MIT and Stanford remain more than one-half of the combined Ivy League.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO
The University of Chicago received 11,143 early action applications, an increase from the previous years when 10,137 and 8,698 applications were received. According to sources, the school with an estimated class of 1,350 students, offered admission to 1,350 students under its Early Admission non-binding program.
DUKE
Duke received a record 3,180 applications and admitted 797 students. Its Class of 2018, expected to have 1,705 members will comprise an all-time high of 47 percent of ED successful applicants. Last year, 2,540 students applied under its Early Decision program, a decrease over the 2,641 who applied early in 2011.
GEORGETOWN
Georgetown received 6,734 applications and admitted 955 students for an admission ratio of 14%. Last year, the school received 6,851 applications and admitted 879 students for an admission ratio of 12.83%.
JOHNS HOPKINS
Johns Hopkins offered early admission to 526 students into its Class of 2018. The university chose them from a record 1,595 early decision applicants—up 11 percent over last year when 1,450 applied for the Class of 2017.
NORTHWESTERN
Northwestern University received 2,863 applications and admitted 925 students to its Class of 2018. The acceptance rate was about 32 percent, down slightly from 33 percent last year. Last year, the school reported 2,651 applications and admitted 881 students to its Class of 2017.
