Brown University
Brown received 6,244 Early Decision applications for the Class of 2028 and accepted 898 applicants. Last year, Brown received 6,770 applications for Early Decision for the Class of 2027 and accepted 879 applicants. Brown accepted 896 students out of 6,146 early applications received for the Class of 2026.
Over the past six years, Brown’s acceptance rates have held relatively steady: 14.38 percent to the Class of 2028, 12.98 percent to the Class of 2027, 14.58 percent to the Class of 2026, 15.95 percent to the Class of 2025, and 18 percent to both the Class of 2024 and 2023, respectively.
Columbia University
Columbia reported 6,009 early applications for the Class of 2028 compared to 5,738 last year. Based on a revised estimated admission* of 750 students, the rate of admission should be in the 12 percent range. For the Class of 2026, according to its released Common Data Set, Columbia admitted 786 students out of 6,299 applications, substantially higher than previously reported. Â
Cornell University
Cornell has again decided to not disclose its admissions’ numbers until the end of the yearly cycle. The university, however, announced that applications for its early round for the Class of 2027 numbered 9,500 and that 1,670 students were accepted. In the previous year, the early round for the Class of 2026 included 9,555 applications with 1,831 accepted students.  Â
Dartmouth College
Dartmouth reported 3,550 Early Decision applications for the Class of 2028 and accepted 606 students for an admission rate of 17.07 percent. This marks a decrease in the admission rate, as last year the university received 3,009 Early Decision applications for the Class of 2027 and accepted 578 students for an admission rate of 19.21 percent. The 606 students accepted Early Decision will compose approximately 50 percent of the Class of 2028 estimated at 1,150 students.
Harvard University
Harvard accepted 692 or 8.74 percent of the 7,921 early applicants to the Class of 2028. The size of the Early Action pool decreased substantially (down 17 percent) and the acceptance rate increased from 7.56 percent (722 out of 9,553) for the Class of 2027 to 8.74 for the Class of 2028. Harvard admitted 740 or 7.87 percent of the 9,406 early applicants to the Class of 2026.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology received 12,563 Early Action applications for the Class of 2028, an increase from the 11,924 Early Action applications received last year, and accepted 661 students for an acceptance rate of 5.26 percent. In prior years, MIT accepted 685 students to the Class of 2027 for an acceptance rate of 5.74 percent and 697 students to the Class of 2026 for an acceptance rate of 4.72 percent.
University of Pennsylvania
Penn announced about 8,500 Early Decision applications for the Class of 2028, but did not report its admission rate. In previous years, Penn received 7,794 Early Decision applications for the Class of 2026 and admitted 1,210 students under the Early Decision program for a 15.52 percent acceptance rate.
Princeton University
Princeton will not disclose its admissions’ numbers until the end of the yearly cycle.
Yale University
Yale offered admission to 709 Early Action applicants for the Class of 2028, down from 776 applicants for its Class of 2027. Yale reported an increase in applications from 7,744 to 7,856 for the last two cycles of admissions, as well as a decrease in their admission rate from 10.02 to 9.02 percent.

Duke reported that 6,240 students applied under its Early Decision program and admitted 806 to the Class of 2028. Last year, Duke reported that 4,855 students applied under its Early Decision program and 800 of those students were admitted to the Class of 2027. Â
Georgetown received 8,600 applications to the Class of 2028 and admitted 860 students for an acceptance rate of 10 percent. Last year, Georgetown admitted 964 of 8,196 early applicants to the Class of 2027 for an admissions rate of 11.76 percent.
Johns Hopkins reported that 550 successful applicants were admitted to the Class of 2028. Last year, the university accepted 533 students of the 2,700 who applied for the Class of 2027 in their Early Decision I program.
Notre Dame admitted 1,724 Early Action applicants to the Class of 2028 from a pool of 11,498 students, reflecting a 14.99 percent acceptance rate. Last year, Notre Dame admitted 1,701 Early Action applicants to the Class of 2027 from a pool of 11,163 students, reflecting a 15.24 percent acceptance rate.
