Review of the Ivy League & MIT Class of 2029 — Entering Fall 2025

The University offered admission to 5.65 percent of its applicants to the Class of 2029, down from last year’s acceptance rate of 5.39 percent for the Class of 2028. Out of the 42,765 students who applied 2,418 students were admitted. The 1,512 students accepted through the regular decision process joined the 906 students admitted in December. The rate of admission for the ED round stood at 17.95 percent.  Last year, Brown offered admission to 5.39 percent of its applicants to the Class of 2028 when 2,638 students were admitted from a pool of 48,904 students. In the previous year, Brown offered admission to 5.23 percent of its applicants to the Class of 2027 when 2,686 students were admitted from a pool of 51,316 students.

For the Class of 2029, Columbia accepted 2,946 students from 59,616 applications. The acceptance rate of 4.9 percent is slightly up from last year’s 3.86 percent when Columbia admitted 2,327 applicants from 60.248 applications. For this admissions’ cycle, Columbia received 5,872 early decision applications. Last year, Columbia accepted 2,327 students from 60,248 applications to the Class of 2028. The acceptance rate of 3.86 percent was slightly below the previous year of 4.00 percent when Columbia accepted 2,285 students from 57,126 applications to the Class of 2027.

Cornell announced that it admitted 5,824 applicants from a yet to be disclosed pool to the Class of 2029. Last year, 5,516 students out of 65,612 applicants were admitted to the Class of 2028. The previous year, Cornell received 67,846 applications for admission to the Class of 2027 and admitted 5,358 students.

Dartmouth College extended offers of admission to 1,702 applicants to its Class of 2029 for an overall acceptance rate of 6.03 percent, up from last year’s 5.40 percent.  The total number of accepted students to the Class of 2029 includes the 606 admitted through the early decision process in December.

Last year, Dartmouth College offered admission to 1,710 students for the Class of 2028 for an overall acceptance rate of 5.40 percent, down from last year’s 6.23 percent. Dartmouth College extended offers of admission to 1,797 applicants to its Class of 2027. 

Harvard declined to release the admissions’ statistics for the Class of 2029.  Last year, Harvard accepted 3.65 percent of applicants to its Class of 2028 when it received a total of 54,008 applications compared to 56,937 for the Class of 2027. With 1,970 admitted students to the Class of 2028, the rate of admission stood at 3.65 percent. In previous years, Harvard received a total of 56.937 applications to the Class of 2027 and 61,221 to the Class of 2026. 

UPenn announced its most selective year on record with a 4.9% acceptance rate. 3,530 students were accepted out of the 72,544 who applied to University of Pennsylvania for the class of 2029.

Last year, 65,236 students applied to Penn’s Class of 2028 in the early and regular rounds. Penn announced that about 3,523 students were accepted for an admission’ rate of 5.40 percent. In the previous year, 59,465 students applied to Penn’s Class of 2027 and 3,489 were admitted for an overall acceptance rate of 5.87 percent.

Princeton University did not release the statistics for the Class of 2029. According to its released Common Data Set, Princeton offered admission to 1,868 students, or 4.62 percent of the 40,468 applicants to the Class of 2028. In the previous year, Princeton offered admission to 1,782 students, or 4.50 percent of the 39,644 applicants to the Class of 2027.

Yale’s Office of Undergraduate 2,308 students or 4.52 percent of the 50,228 students who applied to the Class of 2029. The SCEA round accounted for 728 acceptances out of a pool of 6,729 applications for an admission rate of 10.82 percent. 

Last year, Yale accepted 2,227 students or 3.87 percent of the 57,517 students who applied to the Class of 2028. This represented a decrease from the previous year’s rate of 4.50 percent. In the previous year, Yale accepted 2,353 students or 4.50 percent of the 52,303 students who applied to the Class of 2027. The SCEA round accounted for 776 acceptances out of a pool of 7,744 applications.  

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the Class of 2029 the school admitted 1,324 students out of 29,282 applicants. In its early round, MIT admitted 721 students out of 12,053 applications.

Last year, admitted 1,284 students out of 28,232 applicants to the Class of 2028 for an acceptance rate of 4.55 percent. In its early round, MIT admitted 685 students out of 11,924 applications, yielding 5.74 percent which is the lowest rate of acceptance in an early round among its peer group composed of the Ivy League and Stanford. In the previous year, for the Class of 2027 the school admitted 1,259 students out of 26,914 applicants. In its early round, MIT admitted 687 students out of 11,924 applications.
