College Decision Day: It’s Almost Time

May 1, better known as National College Decision Day, is a huge milestone in your college admissions journey. Now that the stress of waiting for college admissions results has passed, you now move onto the finale, making your decision (and submitting your deposit)!

Though many Top Tier Admissions students are accepted into their top-choice school in the early round, there are others whose top-choice college or university only offers Early Action or regular round application plans. We have been celebrating our students’ many acceptances this spring, so now comes the fun part: ensuring “fit” and guiding our students as they make their selection.

TTA Top Tip: College visits are a critical tool to understand exactly what a particular college offers. Knowing the type of environment you seek and where you will ultimately thrive is as important as your grades. Greek life, or no Greek life? Massive D1 sports program? All-women or co-ed? Urban or rural? Research and study abroad opportunities?  The list goes on!  

Filled with expectancy, excitement and a smidge of nerves, College Decision Day also brings with it a sense of relief and pride. You did it! Your hard work has paid off and, come fall, you’ll be packing your bags and heading off to your dream school.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER COLLEGE DECISION DAY?

The first item on your agenda should be to take a deep breath and CELEBRATE! This is a momentous occasion in any high school senior’s life. Pause to take a moment of gratitude. Ice cream for dinner sounds about right!

TTA Top Tip: Your senior year grades (and behavior) still matter as acceptances can be rescinded, so finish your academic year on a strong note.

Next up, housekeeping. Think deposits, deadlines, officially enrolling, attending orientation, registering for classes and of course, shopping for dorm room supplies!
